Gerald Walker has been passionately involved in amateur theatre principally as an actor, but also covering all other aspects of drama production, for upwards of 20 years.
Parts played include Gerardo in “Death and the Maiden,” Sydney Bruhl in Ira Levin’s “Deathtrap” and the Major-general in “The Pirates of Penzance”, Thomas Moore in “A Man for all Seasons”, Jonathan Brewster in “Arsenic and Old Lace”, Maxim de Winter in “Rebecca”, Henry Ormonroyd in “When we are Married,” Will Parker, Fagan, Von Trapp, Henry Higgins, M.C. in “Cabaret, the Inspector in ”An Inspector Calls, Bottom in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and literally dozens of other parts large and small in plays, musicals and pantos.
As a former society chairman he fully understands the problems involved in the selection of good comedies for production.
He started writing comedies four years ago and now finds it something between a pleasure and a compulsion, in any event both challenging and satisfying. Currently he has two plays available for professional or amateur production, Open Wide & Walking Tall.
